Cam Newton took a two-mile run along the Pacific coastline early Thursday morning, then took the first tangible steps on a likely climb up the draft board.
Exactly one month removed from leading Auburn to the national title, Newton arrived about 9:30 a.m. at the San Diego high school where he has been training for the better part of three weeks. A little less than an hour later, following a workout in front of about 50 media members and other observers, the Heisman Trophy winner certainly had not hurt his stock.
